Married Twenty Years on August 13.
House Principal Now 50% Paid or 50% Owing, depending on your outlook.
Mortgage: 25% paid over three years.
Baselle and I underwent another Community Fundraiser Scavenger Hunt. We got everything this year, without having to return another year. I did some prep work to save us shoe leather. We were caught in a hailstorm, heard the loudest booms this side of the Rockies: later I read someone 0.5 miles away was struck by lightning.

I am usually up for sharing. I have a 12-year mortgage, of which I have completed three years. I have no intention of snowflaking the mortgage now, although in earlier months I have paid extra principal to have a "cute" figure to share with debt group, e.g. $111111, or round to the nearest $50 for numerical tidiness. If I put $7 extra each month I might pay one month earlier. Instead I am paying the home equity line of credit down, along with the car loan, as its term expires after the 12-year mortgage does.
We haven't been benefited from the US's mortgage interest tax deduction for over six years now.
Mortgages seem like they'll go forever, probably why "mort", the French word for "dead", is the root word! We've been in this house 15.5 years, and to have paid 50% of the principal when we have made 63% of the monthly payments is nothing great. However, we now pay 2x principal than interest in our payments, so that is something.
