A good budget-buster

January 4th, 2013 at 12:38 am

Guess who passed Jeopardy!'s Online test for adults and will be invited to a city (700 miles away) for audition?

I learned this of course two days after I registered for the 2013 online test (consequently I shan't be taking it), and close to a year after I took the 2012 test.

(Practicing with the son's Wii game 2x/day)

@MonkeyMama The test city is... SACRAMENTO! Which means a drive, so not all that bad. Now that I think of it, Sacramento is not 900 miles away, it just seems that way when it takes 12 hours... like driving to Calgary. Except I hope Sacramento is warmer than Calgary in the spring or late winter.

I must entreat the fair baselle to help me practice/accept my limitations in local testing. She is a whiz.

Anyone in Calgary would leap at the opportunity to get away from snow, icy roads, snow ploughs, salt spreader etc. and drive to Sacramento...whatever the reason!

Have fun at the audition, wishing you success.

Too funny!! Let me know if you need assistance with accomodations or anything. (The hotel my MIL stayed in while my dh had surgery was dirt cheap - though not bad at all - a Best Western? - I can tell you 100% where NOT to stay, but I think online reviews usually cover "where not to stay" pretty well).

Sacramento is no doubt warmer. Wink 320 days of sun per year (so my Canadian friend tells me).

Assuredly I will ask about where to stay when we get a date from the Jeopardy! Audition crew, which may determine if I fly (solo), or drive (with the family), or even take the train (ooh la la). Sacramento is warmer than Seattle by about 10F in March, perhaps even drier.

How exciting! My mom and grandma are Jeopardy fans and still talk about Ken Jennings, and how such a nice Mormon boy went so far! I'll be able to join in the convo now and talk about Paulette!

Congrats, and best of luck to you!!

Wow! Best of luck to you!

A young acquaintance of mine was a Jeopardy champion -- also got called back for the tournament of champions and did well there, too. Just a really smart kid, but I think the key for him was that he was relaxed and loose, and not self-conscious.

@laura Ken Jennings lives about eight miles north of me. Maybe I ought to start hanging around his neighborhood so I can "accidentally" bump into him and ask for tips.

    Good luck!

My mom is a huge fan of Wheel of Fortune and has gotten called to an audition twice now. She will be doing the second audition in a few weeks. The first one she thinks she was trying too hard.

Southern Oregon is on the way if you need a place to stop for lunch or dinner, let me know. Smile And congrats...I will be routing for you!

Medford is on the way if you need a place to stop for lunch or dinner, let me know. Smile

@Thrifty Ray Terrific! I would actually like to stop in Medford for dinner. Maybe I can stretch the drive out 1.5 days, have dinner in Medford and crash in Ashland.
I hope to learn soon when we are to go, and I hope also the snow's melted from the interiors of Oregon and CA by the time we go.

I'll create a "jeopardy" category so people can gravitate to that.

Wave on your way through Portland! Smile
