Filling up tank for $3.995/gallon: win!
Going to Costco and finding Cheerios and apple juice cheaper than the last visit: win!
Fresh factory-produced bread for under $2: win!

réussite! - warning, French language, but there are subtitles.

The tax payment came out of our account today. I feel as if I'm a post-surgery patient with a malignant growth just removed: weak but hopeful and glad the ordeal is over! I have under $300 in chequing, and that's before the $100 HELOC payment and the $25 automatically added to the certificate of deposit, the $67 for aikido lessons and the $25 monthly payment for our phone. I better transfer some dough from Money Market Account. What I would really like is a good ol' cocktail.

I just keep reminding my family back in the States that the gas prices can't lead them to TOO much frustration... it's well over $6.50/gallon over here in SE-EU, and people earn a lot less money. Still stinks when the prices sky upward like that, though, because people end up with no insurance that they can accurately budget their fuel costs month by month. Good luck!

@Jerry You won't catch me moaning about high gas prices: I've lived in Canada and spent time in the United Kingdom and Japan, so I know I have no room to complain. I don't understand the "I believe in the free market but other countries have to continue underpricing their oil to us and we need to keep the oil subsidies going in the US" mindset that is so prevalent here in the United States: to me it seems like cognitive dissonance. However, if I can fill up for $0.06 to $0.26 less per gallon than many other people here, it's a win for me!

@baselle A win for both you and me. We could go to Honore to uh... mourn, yes. Mourn over some dolorous strawberry danishes or melancholic eclairs and inconsolable pastries.
