Ten States with the Worst Mortgage Debt

10. Nevada

To Nevada's credit, the average credit card balance outstanding is among the lowest in the nation.

My state sucks, of course as it has the 16th highest unemployment rate in the country and a high poverty rate of 12.5%. Credit card debt per person in Washngton: $6,825 (17th highest).

    So very different than what the rest of the country thinks: that we are all making boodles at Microsoft or somewhere.

    Eight of those states border an ocean. At least three of them have a very high cost of living. I know our city has a high cost of living. I see that only Hawaii and Washington have higher ratios of Mortgate to Salary, and the sun shines in both those places. I'd rather have a lean-to, bicycle and a solar oven in Oahu.
