Planning to save for a replacement vehicle

October 25th, 2007 at 07:34 pm

This would be a four-wheeled automatic transmission covered automobile, large enough to accommodate two adults 70 and 71 inches tall and a boy who'll sprout from 48 inches to 73 inches over the time we own the car (barring accidents and repossession).

My ideas:
honda accord sedan EX-L
honda accord hybrid
toyota camry hybrid
toyota camry XLE
Nissan Maxima SL
Nissan Altima Hybrid
Nissan Altima 3.5 SL
Toyota Prius 4-Door Liftback

The credit union has repossessed autos, but not the makes and models listed above. I got the above from

Right now we are saving money for a replacement car as well. I think it's essential to plan for such things. I am not a fan of using an emergency fund to replace a car, when it's a known expense than you can see happening.

I like to do that as well, and eventually aim for 20k. I like Toyotas and Hondas....

I'm buying a new car this week. Yesterday I test drove the 2007 Honda Accord and Civic, as well as the 2008 Toyota Corolla. I liked the way all of them drove but the Civic steering wheel bothered me. I loved the Accord, it has a much better body styling than the 2008 model. I really wanted it but I just couldn't deal with the dealership's negotiating methods. I'll probably end up ordering the Corolla. I like how high up I sit in the Corolla.
