this is my house, plus goals

October 1st, 2011 at 03:38 am

The Queen of Hearts
She made some tarts,
All on a summer's day;
The Knave of Hearts
He stole those tarts,
And took them clean away.
The King of Hearts
Called for the tarts,
And beat the knave full sore;
The Knave of Hearts
Brought back the tarts,
And vowed he'd steal no more.

I witnessed, Guide's Honour, the following exchange in my house.

"There are three fewer butter tarts! WHO TOOK THEM? WAS IT YOU?" Knave points to King.
King, smiling, looks down at Knave. "Oh I didn't have three butter tarts... I had SIX!"

Knave throws himself at King, pummeling him with flying fists. "You SON of a PICKLE!"
Then he pushes King out of the kitchen toward the living room. "OUT! YOU DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE!! GET YOUR THINGS AND GO!"

Seriously, that was the most worked up I'd ever seen the knave since the King told him he'd not drive us to Peoria, Illinois to hear John Daker sing in the First United Methodist Church Sunday service. (Search YouTube for John Daker if you dare. Safe for work, unless you're a church musical director.)

Possible butter tart fixation at my house.

Thinking, if I do run a business, of calling it "Buttercup Palace." Now for a design...
------------
Goals:
* floss teeth at least three times a week
* coconut or unrefined sesame oil three times a week -- oil-pulling
* medication taken morning and night
* affirmations and energy routines and yoga three times a week

The people yipping about Citibank and Bank of America finding a new revenue source now that small businesses have lower debit card merchant transaction fees remind me of

The Kinks. Nobody's making them bank at those places, nobody's forcing them to use debit cards, and what were they doing when some of us were fleeing the banks because we couldn't have fee-free accounts anymore, or they shortened our grace periods, brought in arbitration... waiting for stuff to happen to THEM.

Thanks a bunch Paulette. I almost wet myself listening to the one with the subtitles.
I've awoken the whole house with my guffawing and am afraid the dog will start howling along.

Let another reason to have the EF. It was quite the project to move my money to the credit union, but not moving it was going to be far worse. I hear a lot of whining about "I can't move my money because its too hard." Too hard meaning I can't switch my direct deposit without a lot of bouncing charges. That's what the little bit of savings is for - to backstop the bits you failed to switch over the first time.

    Ray Davies is the man!

Oh, yes, extra points there for the Knave who used the cultured and correct "fewer" instead of the lame "less". That's worthy of a butter tart.

I'm too sick to join in on this witty banter, but I'm off to listen to the youtube video.

oh dear, I hope laura saw the Kinks video before John Daker if she's sick. Then again, laughter is the best medicine.

"Nobody's making them bank at those places,"

    Amen!

I didn't have to flee - I never banked with any of them in the first place (thank goodness for credit unions).

When you say "oil-pulling", you mean the process of swishing oil around in your mouth, right? My husband, who has horrible teeth, tried this for awhile and claims he did not see results. How long did it take for you?

crazyliblady: I do mean the process of swishing oil around in the mouth.
What oil did your husband use, how often did he use it and for how long?
I used coconut oil for three weeks, at least daily. Within a week I had swollen lymph nodes, but that lasted for three days only. I also had noticeably fewer calculi deposits on my teeth, according to the dental hygienist who examined them five weeks after I started.

Oh to this loyal credit union employee, the responses are music to my ears. Did it hit the bottom line when interchange income rules changed?? Absolutely...but credit unions are focusing on ways to do the right things for the members and that is NOT simply charging fees.

If you appreciate your credit union, make sure you have all of your loans with them....that is what helps them stay in business and ultimately keeps consumers from having to pay the never ending fees that other places charge!

Ok...hopping off the soapbox to say...LOVED THIS POST...Paulette, you are always good for a chuckle- for sure!!

I think he used organic olive oil, but it's been awhile, so I am not sure. He did it at least twice a day for a couple of months and said he did not see any results.

Olive oil is supposed to be good for fungus and bacteria. I think for me the oil-pulling saliva action for twenty minutes was a good "jet-tub rinse" for my teeth.

I loved the fewer/less distinction too! It's one of my writing classes' grammar topics every semester.
And this olive oil stuff is news to me. I'm a Listerine gal, but only because I have to be.
