Meal Planning

Sure, it doesn't look healthy, unless you believe animal fats and protein are key to surviving winters (I do, stews are a hug from the inside). I admit the pasta representation is heavy here, but I'm using up what I have. And I have two vegetarian dishes.

Sunday: Macaroni-Beef Casserole

Sweet and Sour Lentils, Gourmet Succotash w/homemade chicken stock (Nourishing Traditions, Fallon)

Looks like some good plans. I like your statement that a stew is a hug from the inside. My DH would wholeheartedly agree!

Ah, comfort food, never heard of sweet & sour lentils, did you make it? Our go-to comfort item on these miserable, freezing, icy days is Butternut Squash& Apple soup with a touch of sherry. Dessert favourite in January was Apple Crisp. No one asked for ice cream atop.

snafu, I kept buying Granny Smith apples for apple crisp but they kept getting eaten: I have no problem with this. My spouse did make apple cake, though. Haven't made sweet and sour lentils yet: the tang comes from apple cider vinegar (I live in the Apple Center of the Solar System and I don't mean Cupertino!). Butternut Squash soup is creamy and divine: I haven't had it in awhile.
